I’m trying to clean out small remnants of past orders and have a small jar of what was grapefruit wax. It’s now dried on and even a penknife skips over it. Is there something I can add to soften it without changing the taste?
If you have a bunch with residue on them, just put them all in some really strong ethanol, like 95% everclear or if you have access to 100% ethanol, that would work great too. Clean them off in the alcohol and then pour the alcohol/residue mixture into a dish lined with parchment paper. Allow alcohol to evaporate off (do it in a well ventilated area or outside if possible) and you will have something you can work with.
Sounds like a cool idea, Mad710Chemist. I hadn't thought of it before but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. If you're into tinctures, you could use a similar method but with food-grade alcohol, then not evaporate.
